Braintree, Mass. (April 12, 2010) – RJV Enterprises, which owns and operates some of the country’s most successful karting facilities and businesses, has launched RJV Enterprises Karting Consultants – a new company designed to help organizations succeed in the karting business. RJV Karting Consultants offers the experience and expertise that its’ personnel has acquired while building businesses that span the spectrum of the karting industry, including ‘gold standard’ kart racing facilities; kart and kart equipment importing and distributing; as well as manufacturers of a revolutionary track barrier system.

“Since 1969, we’ve been building successful businesses and category leaders in industries as diverse as health insurance, retail automotive services and corporate investigations. When we decided to get into the karting industry, we applied all the lessons learned from our other ventures and brought a best practices approach to karting,” states RJV Enterprises founder and CEO Richard ‘RJ’ Valentine. “For the entrepreneur just breaking into karting, or a kart dealer looking to build a more profitable business, or a track owner who wants to improve the facility and its operations, we can help them succeed. Not just with karts and parts, but with all the services and support that mean the difference between a struggling business and a success story.”

RJV Enterprises Karting Consultants leadership team has decades of experience in every aspect of the karting business:

Richard J. Valentine is an entrepreneur who has been building businesses since 1969. He has built category leaders in a broad range of industries – while developing an impressive 20+ year resume as a racecar driver. His passion and talent for combining business and racing drove him to kart racing. For more for than a decade, he has dedicated substantial resources to building not just his own karting businesses, but also the karting industry itself.

Dave Davies is Vice President/General Manager of SSC East, importer and distributor of kart chassis, engines and parts. A mechanical expert, he has over 30 years of experience in the automobile prototype industry and 32 years of kart racing experience. Since he joined RJV Enterprises nearly a decade ago, he has become an industry expert in CRG karts, Rotax and Maxter engines. He built the SSC East racing team and attends key races to provide trackside support to drivers and dealers.

Mark Ouimet, SSC East Business and Dealer Development Director, knows karting from the inside. While running the finance department for one of the nation’s largest RV dealerships, he was nurturing the karting career of his young son, Arie, who has since become a champion. When Mark joined SSC East in 2005, he had been a karting dad for 5 years – and moving the family east was part of his dedication to his son’s passion. With SSC East, he has built karting’s strongest dealer network, bringing his knowledge of the sport and the business of karting to every customer.

Marshall Martin has recently joined SSC East as Midwest Sales Director for SSC East and RJV Enterprises. He has been involved with karting for nearly 40 years, at the same time building his career as a sales representative manager for several industrial and automotive firms. Since 2003, he has been national Race Director of the United States Rotax Max Challenge Series. Earlier, he spent five years as Director of Operations at South Bend Raceway Park, a motorsports racing facility in his hometown of South Bend, Indiana.

Karen Quast is General Manager of F1 Boston, the most successful indoor karting facility/ conference center in the country and F1 Outdoors, which has been called “the gold standard” of outdoor kart tracks. She has also been instrumental in the development of the RJV Enterprises companies. Karen has developed and implemented technologies that have improved every aspect of our karting businesses – and has been a key consultant on site selection and track design for partners and clients.

Shawn P. Streeter, CPA, is Controller of RJV Enterprises LLC and its many operating companies. He was an auditor for a public accounting firm before joining our team. He brings in-depth knowledge of financial systems, IT infrastructure and financial controls that can be the difference between business success and failure.

With a staff of more than 100, RJV Enterprises and its affiliated companies offer a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise in the following areas: Site Selection, Permitting Assistance, Indoor Facility and Track Design, Outdoor Facility and Track Design, Construction Supervision, Dealership Development, Marketing and Advertising, Timing Systems, Safety Systems, Kart Selection and Purchase, IT and Accounting Infrastructure, Front-End Systems, Staff Training and Development.

“In Europe karting is a well established, sophisticated industry and the training ground for virtually all Formula One racecar drivers. However, in North America it’s evolved from more of a hobby than a business – with very little design or construction, not much strategic marketing and limited business acumen,” Valentine continues. “To succeed in this business takes much more than building a track and acquiring a fleet of karts; it takes a sophisticated infrastructure for IT, business and accounting; an effective staffing plan; an aggressive marketing strategy; timing and safety systems; just to name a few. That’s where we come in – We’ve been there and done that – very successfully. Now we’re helping others achieve that same level of success.”
