Fast-Paced Summer Fun at GPNY Mt.Kisco, NY Junior Racing Camps
Posted by Tom on 07/04/2013
Kids, start your engines! Grand Prix New York (GPNY), the area’s leading indoor entertainment and team-building venue, will once again be offering junior racing camps this summer. Aspiring racecar drivers ages 7-16 can choose from a novice or advanced 5-day camp.
The 5-day Novice Racing Summer Camp features a structured curriculum for participants with little or no experience in karting/driving and teaches junior drivers the basics of driving and racing. During the week long racing program, campers work their way through a course curriculum which includes learning how to identify and follow racing lines, kart control and the basics of passing and defending. Campers enjoy five days of high speed wheel-to-wheel instruction and racing, along with other recreational activities including the iRacing Sim Room, bowling and the arcade.
The 5-day Advanced Camp is for drivers with a competitive edge who are ready to take their skills to the next level. Participants will learn about racing lines, passing exercises, defending position on the track and cutting lap time down. The last two days of camp, instructors wet the track to teach drivers to deal with different road conditions.
“Whether it’s a first time driver who wants to learn the basics, or a child who already has some racing experience, these camps are sure to thrill,” said GPNY Vice President Nat Mundy. “Most of the novice participants can’t wait to come back and take the next course and many of the advanced graduates head into a junior racing league. It’s a safe way for kids with an adventurous side to have a lot of fun and get a little competitive.”
Each 5-day session is $800 per applicant. Sessions are from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., and lunch is served. Both Novice and Advanced courses consist of approximately 70% driving and 30% classroom work.
Novice camp dates are July 8-12, July 22-26 and August 12-16. Advanced camp dates are July 15-19 and August 5-9. For more information, contact Chris Pricola at (914) 358-3613 or chris@gpny.com.
