F1 Boston’s Winter Adult League: Rookie Round Six Report

The sixth round of F1 Boston’s Adult Rookie League took place Monday capping another great season of racing; the series culminates at the Championship Finale with the top 8 drivers in each weight class qualifying to compete. Congratulations to all racers! Here’s a re-cap of the action:

Heavy Weight Division



In heavyweight, David Roger won his fourth round of the series, with a 37-point performance – he won the first heat, placed third in the middle race and second in the final, plus a fast lap point. Rogers was crowned season champion with 179 points, 20 points ahead of the field. Samual Bradley grabbed second by winning the final heat, placing third in heat #1 and fifth in heat #2, as well as a fast lap for 35 points. With 159 points, Bradley claims second in the season-long standings.

Michael Egasti and Chris Smith tied for the third spot in the round, each with 28 points. Egasti’s round was highlighted by placing second in heat #2, third in the final and a fast lap – he grabbed fourth place for the season with 128 points. Smith’s round featured winning the second heat, earning him seventh for the season. Wayne Penn rounded out the top five in the final session, earning 24 points highlighted by placing second in the first heat. His 119 points locked up fifth place in the standings. Stephan Ramponi (14 points in the round) took third place for the season with 143 points.

Light Weight Division

The lightweight division concluded with a great round of competition: the top five drivers separated by just 6 points. Jonathan Zombeck took top honors, winning the final heat, placing third in heat #1 and fifth in the middle race, plus a fast lap point for 31. He finishes the season in second place with 188 points. Sean Neal and Joseph Fonseca tied for second with 28 points apiece. Neal took second in the final and fourth in the others – with 205 points he claims the series championship title. Fonseca’s round featured winning with first heat and placing third in the final; he finishes the season in fifth place with 132 points. Toby Bloom was next with 26 points earned by placing second in the final and fourth in the others, as well as a fast lap points. At 150, he grabs third place for the series. Henry Cipolla took fifth place in the round, just a point back at 25 – his highlight was winning the middle heat. Steven Carvalho (18 points in the round) finishes the season in fourth place with 141 points.

The F1 Boston Adult Winter League offers racing in three classes: Pro, Sprint and Rookie. All three offer six rounds of competition – each round features a practice session and three races – points are earned towards a season ending Final Championship Race, with the top 6 drivers in each weight class advancing to the Finals. The format includes one race drop; five of the six rounds count towards determining who makes it to the Championships. All races take place at F1 Boston, a state-of-the-art facility featuring two top-notch, European styled courses. Here are the current Rookie League standings:
