On Sunday, July 10, 2011 StrikeDownCancer.org will be hosting the East Coast Karting Championships at Grand Prix New York in Mount Kisco, NY. Family members of all ages can get out on the track and have fun racing while supporting a great cause. All proceeds from the event benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation Ride for Kids. Aside from racing in the main event, there are packages so the whole family can get out on the track and enjoy some go-karting.



One of the top entertainment venues in the Tri-State area, Grand Prix New York features 120,000 square feet of high-speed indoor Go-Kart racing, arcades, gaming and award-winning dining. In addition, motorsports companies from around the tri-state area will be showcasing their talents for you. It's a great opportunity to ask questions, see the latest technology and meet people who share your passion.

Doors open at 10:00 am with karting on the Brownstone and Tunnel tracks beginning at 11:00 am. Racing is opened to everyone ages 8 and up, and there are specially priced packages for the event ranging from $25-$40 for individuals to $100 for a family of four.

The first annual East Coast Karting Championship will start on the Uptown track at 12 noon with 4 sessions of 60 racers. This is a race for adults and teens, and space is limited to 240 competitors. The cost for this package is $150. The fastest 48 racers will move on to the semi-finals which consists of 4 sessions with 12 racers each. The racers with the top 20 times will move on to the finals where they will be competing on the Super Track, a combination of all three tracks linked together, for a chance to become the first annual East Coast Karting Champion!

The champion will receive one day of motorsports racing at the Skip Barber Racing School. The second place finisher receives a racing package from Grand Prix New York for them and 10 of their friends. Each semi-finalist will receive a special gift from Business As Usual Clothing.

All proceeds from this event benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation Ride for Kids (www.pbtfus.org). Here is your chance to support the kids and race for the cure! The money raised will fund vital research, give grants to the nation's leading medical institutions, give scholarships to brain tumor survivors and provide family support services.
