Dromo 1: Charity Le Mans 12 Hour Endurance Race Set to Go
Racing NewsThird annual running of the event slated to best yet with plenty of top drivers and new rules

The third annual Dromo 1 Charity Le Mans 12 Hour Endurance race is nearly upon us, with the forums providing ample evidence that this year is going to be most highly contested race ever.

The Dromo 1 Le Mans 12 Hour Endurance race has always attracted the top indoor karters in the country in a battle of strategy and endurance, that has seen some of the closest finishes of any 12 hour race. Legendary names in motorsports have teamed up with indoor karting finest teams over years, with the likes of Patrick Long, Alex Tagliani, Craig Stanton, Boris Said, Tanner Foust, Sam Hubinette, and Colin Fleming ensuring this event is a notch above the rest.

For the second year in a row, the race is destined to raise more charitable funds than the previous year, with Dromo1's crowning race benefiting the MDA Muscular Dystrophy Association's Clinic at CHOC, a local chapter of the world's largest non-governmental research sponsor seeking effective treatments for neuromuscular diseases. Dromo 1’s goal of raising at least $5,000 for Jerry's kids is a noble one that will make everyone proud to be a part of such a spectacular racing event. So far Dromo has been able to raise over $20,000 since it started the 12 hour concept.

Dromo1 was the first track to pioneer the grueling 12 hour race back in 2008, and since then the event has grown to become a fan favorite with every bit of the excitement and drama found in a sundown to sunrise competition.

Those unable to participate or attend the event in person will not be left out of the loop in 2010, as IndoorKatingNews.com will again provide live audio coverage via IndoorKartingNews.com/Live. Renowned karting announcer and IKN Editor in Chief Rob Howden will be handling all the action, with special yet to be announced guest announcers adding to the excitement.

Giving the 2010 edition of the Dromo 1 Charity Le Mans 12 Hour Endurance an added boost is the institution of several new rules. Among those are:

- Unlimited driver stints, no maximum time! Drive until you don't have it in you anymore or you run out of gas.
- Team radios will be allowed. Special note that only radios not interfering with Dromo's marshall radio system will be allowed.
- Random draw will be instituted for kart exchanges, teams will no longer be able to hand pick their karts
- Individual ballasted racing 185 lbs minimum without race gear and up to a maximum of 60 lbs ballasted, up from 40 lbs at last years race.

Note: text messaging to your driver may be available as well, testing is going on as of the writing of this preview!
- A complete new track layout guaranteed to extend any previous dromo track layout and provide both indoor and outdoor racing like never before (unless it rains again but that would be almost impossible).
- Additional sponsorship opportunities available - $100 secures your team or company logo on the commemorative t-shirt, other VIP packages available including a private VIP area (more details to follow).
- Formula 1 style inspired pit lane transition lane to race track, cross over and team suffers penalty!

Previous food provisions where done either before or after the event, this time Dromo's food plans are designed to help the teams with hot food when it’s the coldest and when they need it most.
